Nat Sherman Celebrates Their 85th Anniversary With a Philanthropic Twist

On June 30th, Nat Sherman, "tobacconists to the world", celebrated their 85th anniversary with a gala at the Nat Sherman Townhouse in New York City to celebrate this great milestone. In addition to hosting guests with hors d'oeuvres, fine spirits, refreshments, live music, and limited edition cigars, a live and silent auction was conducted - raising well over $8000 for City Harvest, a local community food program. City Harvest was founded in 1982 to assist in feeding the 1 million+ impoverished New Yorkers by collecting excess food from various restaurants, grocers, bakeries, and farms, and delivering to hundreds of community food programs throughout the city. Great stuff Nat Sherman - KUDOS!

The Rebirth of Henry Clay

After over a year of discussions and subsequent work on numerous blends, Altadis USA has teamed with Pete Johnson of Tatuaje Cigars to release the Henry Clay Tattoo. Apparently, the original Henry Clay has been an old favorite of Johnson's since the early 1990's. The new Henry Clay will be manufactured in the Dominican Republic at Tabacalera de Garcia and is slated to be a modern interpretation of the original, with a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper and a Dominican Piloto Cubano binder, bothe from a 2010 harvest, and filler from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua (specifically Ometepe). This limited edition smoke will debut at the upcoming 2015 International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers (IPCPR) annual trade show in New Orleans later this month, in just one vitola - a 6" x 52 Toro with a pigtailed cap.

Henry Clay is one cigar that is rarely discussed amongst aficionados and virtually absent from social media posts; however, my interest has certainly been piqued. I've never smoked the original Henry Clay, but definitely plan to get my hands on it as well as this new release - looking very forward to this (and will add to my #2015musthave list)!

OK, not that I need any, but I'll damn sure take this type of therapy from Fred Rewey...

To celebrate the launch, there is currently a contest running in which 3 winners will be selected to win 20 "sessions."
