So here we are with the final installment of the Smokeasy Short reviews of the three T.L. Johnson Cigars - the T.L. Johnson Legend Reserve 63 Torpedo. As you have read, I enjoyed the Signature Connecticut; and I enjoyed the Signature Maduro even more.  But this LR63 is the one!

Aged for 5 years, the LR63 Torpedo is a well-constructed box-pressed beauty and, like the Signature Maduro, has a rich chocolate brown, oily maduro wrapper.  There are moderate veins present.  The wrapper and foot are more aromatic than the Signature Maduro - giving off some hints of sweetness. Cold draws taken after application of a guillotine cut provided very nice tobacco flavor with the same subtle sweetness noted from the aroma of the foot.  I have a thing for box-pressed cigars - this stick is not just comfortable to hold in the mouth, but makes you just want to take a bite out this chocolate bar!

The LR63 Torpedo lights very easily, burns flawlessly, and creates long ashes that hold pretty tight. It's a mild cigar with medium body.  I found it to be more flavorable compared with the Signature Connecticut and Signature Maduro.  It's a very smooth and creamy smoke with earthy tobacco flavor, riddled with sweet notes of rich dark chocolate.  There is a slight cedar woodiness that becomes evident on retrohale.  This flavor profile stays consistent throughout the smoke; however, the final third releases some mild cashew-like nuttiness as well.  Very, very nice smoke - thumbs up!

The newest addition to the T.L. Johnson portfolio is the Extreme Box Press Tempio, made with a Pennsylvania wrapper, Habano binder, and Dominican filler, which I'm truly looking forward to getting my hands on.
