Global Launch Party Tonight for the New Davidoff Release

Davidoff Cigars is preparing for the global unveiling of the new Davidoff Escurio at a closed event in Miami Beach, FL from 8:00 PM-11:00 PM tonight, June 25. Escurio will be Davidoff's new Brazilian cigar which will be part of their "Black Label" series. The name is derived from "oscuro" (the darkest shade of cigar wrapper leaves) and "Rio" as in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from where the creation of the cigar was inspired. Manufactured in the Dominican Republic, Escurio has a dark Ecuador Habano wrapper, a Brazilian binder, and a mixture of Brazilian and Dominican filler tobaccos, and will debut to retailers next month at the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers (IPCPR) trade show in New Orleans, LA. Escurio will be launched in three vitolas: Short Robusto (3¼" x 50); Robusto Tubo (4½ x 54); and Gran Toro (5½ x 58).

Can't wait to re-visit this smoke, myself - it's been a loooong while...

Padrón is Departing From the Norm

Padrón Cigars announced yesterday that they will unveil something brand new at the upcoming IPCPR annual trade show - a cigar that will cater to the palates of a milder flavor profile. The Padrón Dámaso will consist of a Nicaraguan binder and filler, but adorned with a Connecticut wrapper. In addition, the cigar will be a traditional-rounded stick, not pressed square. Cigar Aficionado online has all of the details of this new release here.

I just can't imagine this - "mild" and "Padrón" is an oxymoron to me. I already have pre-conceived notions that it will be too mild for my liking, but hell, IT'S PADRON and I'll smoke it anyway! Can't wait for this one as well; apparently should hit retailers by late August or September...
