Webinar on FDA Cigar Regs: Justification for Tobacco Control Advocates

Take a look at this archived webinar in its entirety to learn more about the recent US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) deeming regulation of tobacco products including premium cigars.

You will note that the webinar was conducted by the Tobacco Control Legal Consortium, a program run by the Public Health Law Center, a national non-profit organization within the Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Consortium is a group of legal and policy specialists who assist state and municipal attorneys with legal research and analysis when tobacco control laws are challenged, For this webinar, the Consortium had Mitch Zeller, Director of the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products, explain the contents of the FDA’s final deeming rule and how it will be implemented. Consortium staff attorneys also discuss the potential next steps for the FDA, and identify policy options for state and local tobacco control advocates to build on the FDA’s action.

This webinar is very empowering to tobacco control advocates - the FDA deeming rule is exactly the ammunition they needed to continue their fight against our freedom to enjoy premium cigars.
